I'm honored to be asked by Max to do a design for Tempest.
Initially the Indonesia character was going to be a dancer of a traditional Indonesian dance. But after seeing that a dancer shares much in common with the Japanese character I changed him into a Pencak Silat (Like the Kung Fu from Indonesia, as in that there are hundreds of different pencak silat arts) Master. For his design I looked up for some very old drawings of traditional Pencak Silat practitioners, which differs a lot from the uniform a lot of pencak silat practitioners wear today. Some of older costumes/uniforms where masked, being a fan of masks I added a mask too, though my masked was a bit inspired by a Barong Spirit (actually the original dancer character was going to be in a Barong costume).
