The 100 GIRLS Project has started, and as I mentioned on the first page, I'm hoping to level up my drawing skills through this endeavor. A couple of artists have shown interest in joining me on this quest. Maybe they won't be going for 100 pinups exactly, but I've decided to update the front page with their works as well.

I've opened this thread for anyone else who might be interest in joining in, or doing something similar. I'll also be posting my latest works here first, and taking requests.

Not every girl I draw will be scantily clad like the first 2. I just wanted to experiment more with shading skin tones and different coloring methods.Getting smooth outlines has always been a challenge for me and I think it’s time to read some tutorials on how to shade hair.I notice that I get super lazy when it comes to shading arms and hands, so that’s another area I need to focus more on.

The poses won’t be that dynamic for my beginning pieces, but I plan to get more creative with them as I get more comfortable with my skills. Someone requested Emma Stone for Girl #003, so now I’m in trouble. I’m not in the mood to do referenced works yet, until maybe girl #006. While I won’t exactly be trying to draw Emma Stone, I might as well use her as my inspiration for the next one.

Unfortunately, I can't draw, but I can at least judge and critique.

The first picture I don't have too much of a problem with. The girl's right side (our left) looks a bit strange, but I can't describe it really. It's not that bad, or it might not be bad at all, there's just something there. Probably just me.

As for the second picture, it's pretty good too. I going to try to hold off from my judgements from the fact that I think the girl might be ugly since that's not relevant. She's not ugly, of course, just not the style I'm into. But let's stop beating around the bush. My only problem in the hair. It just doesn't look all that natural. I know it sounds stupid from someone who watches anime about being natural, but that's how it is for me. The curves just don't look right to me.

As for any requests to draw a girl, I'm going to hold back for awhile until later so I can see how this project goes.

Thanks Xhaos. Hopefully I'll be improving with more drawings. Yea the hair didn't come out too well for #002. I'm gonna see if I can do better for the next one. I'll keep the girls coming, so please keep your critiques coming as well. I appreciate it.

So if I were to join... How exactly would I contribute my artwork? Do I just post it here? (Hyper)Link it? Email?... AIM?

Practising regularly is probably the key to everything so kudos for starting this project. I hope you can keep it up -- this is definitely something I'll be following.

The first girl's really good - I like the vivid palette, but her left leg looks kind of off either proportionally or because of too much shading. Something strikes me as odd for 002 - she's got a very crooked neck. I find that flip-horizontal helps *a lot* with this kind of thing (if you don't call it cheating).

If you can get a copy of Camtasia, I'd love to see a recording (or maybe try oekaki). I've been trying to post weekly speed paints to YouTube, so maybe I'll post my progress in another thread.

Any one of those methods works for me. Or just put it up on your DA and let me know somehow. I'll post them up as they roll in.

Thanks for the comments mailmerge. Yea 002 didn't turn out that great in therms of the line art. I will be using the mirror check more often from now on. I'm shooting for gradual improvement.

Lol, I love how Gear_Zero and the other pros only come out when absolutely necessary

This is a totally cool project, I might join in somehow, to busy right now though >_<

Hey, Steven, any particular types of girls you're looking for to draw? Like young, more innocent-type of girls? Older, more mature? Or something in between?

In order to reach 100, I'll be tackling girls of all ages, sizes, styles, etc.. So anything goes.

This one is loosely based off of the character “Wichita” from “Zombieland.” Couldn’t find a good tutorial on hair so I decided to wing it. I think I got some decent results from just using a fine line brush. I definitely think it’s an improvement from 002, and perhaps the best of the 3 so far.

Next up: Marge Simpson! Drawn in my style.. :D

That one is better but there seems to be something wrong with the picture not quite sure yet. I will revise this post when I get home and have a little more time to look it over. (Still at work... I can just see Selina saying "SLACKER!" in the chat room. lol)

That's a nice one. The only problem that I can see with it is the Girl's right (Our left) hand, which is a thumb problem. The thumb is probably supposed to be out of sight, but the way the hand is shaped, I think a thumb would be too big to be hidden out of sight and think that even a small protion of the thumb would be visible.

Either way, it's a good one. My favorite overall at the moment. I'll have a request for a girl later once I can compile the data and words of the girl.

I was at first going to suggest the girl Cornet from Rhapsody, a Musical Adventure. Yeah, I late the game, but that's not the point. I was going to suggest it, but I don't want to be recommending girls that have already been drawn. It's your choice to draw them, but I'm wanting to do something unique, so no video game/anime/etc characters from me.

I like unique requests. They are the best. Yea she's missing a thumb, I noticed it after I wrapped the piece up. Thought about going back and adding it in, but I think it's best if I just keep moving ahead. Thanks for the in depth comments.

So, looking for DS games to play, I found a Wizard of Oz RPG.....I say it again.....RPG, so since I've been playing that recently along with Kingdom Hearts, here's your first request while I work on my other one.

Try a combination of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and Alice from Alice in Wonderland. It's a bit more classic and less scantily clad than your other works, but it should work...I hope.

Not sure if it's a good combination but you never know.
